Reviews
We visit each year for our mum's birthday. We just celebrated her 85th birthday May 2026. We absolutely loves this lodge and it's location. We always book it again as soon as we leave. It is beautiful. Lovely and clean, comfy beds and perfect location with lake views.The on-site facilities are great. The food is amazing and you can eat in or take-away. Beautiful walks around the grounds. Mum gets up early and feeds the ducks every morning.It is a short walk to Brockhole with a lovely lakeside path and gardens. Bowness and Grassmere are a short drive each way.Booking is so easy and correspondence is spot on, if you have any questions they answer you straight away.Best time ever for mum's birthday.
The lodge is great, spacious and a great position, my only negative is that the power has been set low so it is a bit strange. My hairdryer wouldn't work but the lodge one did, the microwave takes forever, the hoover ran slow, hot tub jets weak, dishwasher intermittent. I don't know why but there must be a reason?
We had a great stay at Footprints. The lodge is in a very picturesque and peaceful setting close to the lake. It was spacious and well equipped. However, we feel that mirrors in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms would be helpful as it was difficult for 5 adults to get ready with the only mirrors available in the main bedroom or bathroom. The beds were very comfy and overall the lodge was clean apart from the headboards which were quite dusty. The hot tub was great.
The location is good being few minutes drive from Windermere and Ambleside and a short walk to Brockhole which has a jetty for the Windermere lake cruises. Would recommend.
