Great location and stunning views, but the lodge needs some TLCThe lodge is in a perfect location on the site, and the views of the lake are absolutely stunning. The beds were really comfortable, and the lodge was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay.Unfortunately, the property itself is in need of some TLC. Internally, the issues were mainly cosmetic and didn't really bother us, but the outside area was a different story. A lot of the woodwork around the decking is rotting and falling apart, with holes in the decking and fencing. This made the outside area feel unsafe, particularly as we had children with us. There was also a small children's bench which was so rotten that it was falling apart. The outside area was also very dirty when we arrived, and we had to give it a good scrub ourselves before we could comfortably sit and eat outside. The hot tub wasn't up to temperature when we arrived, but this was something we had expected and had planned for, as we appreciate this can happen after it has been serviced. However, the jet covers on the hot tub were constantly coming loose and floating around in the water. We repeatedly had to put them back in place and eventually got fed up of fixing them, which was frustrating and didn't feel particularly safe.We also had no hot water on our first night. We contacted Lakes Cottages & Lodges and left a voicemail, but unfortunately we didn't receive a call back or any response. In the end, we used ChatGPT to help us troubleshoot the boiler and managed to resolve the issue ourselves. We feel this should have been checked and tested before we arrived, and we were disappointed that our request for assistance wasn't responded to.We absolutely loved White Cross Bay and would 100% return to the resort. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we wouldn't return to this particular lodge. At £685 for three nights, we expected the property to be in much better condition, particularly the outside areas. With some investment and maintenance, this could be a fantastic lodge, as the location and views really are beautiful.

Thank you, Rebecca, for taking the time to leave such a detailed review following your stay at High View Lodge. We are sorry to hear that some aspects of the lodge and outside areas did not meet your expectations. We particularly understand your concerns regarding the condition of the decking and outdoor furniture, especially with children staying at the lodge. We will be passing your comments on to the owner so that the areas you have highlighted can be looked at. We are also sorry to hear about the hot tub jet covers and the lack of hot water on your first evening. We have no record of receiving a voicemail from you, so we are very sorry that we did not have the opportunity to assist you at the time. We would always encourage guests to contact us if they experience any problems during their stay, as this gives us the opportunity to investigate and do our best to resolve them. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and will ensure your comments are passed on. We are pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful lake views and the location of High View Lodge, and that you enjoyed your time at White Cross Bay. We hope you will return to the Lake District again in the future.

4 night mid week break in the Easter holidays. We booked with a special offer so was a reasonable price for school holidays. The lodge is in a lovely area of the park near to the lake. The lodge is nice, but is compact compared to others - I would describe more as a big static caravan. Stayed with my husband and 2 sons aged 8 & 11. We dropped on with gorgeous weather so were outside a lot, but would have been a bit cramped if we were inside a lot in worse weather. The hot tub was gorgeous and had a lovely lake view. Recommend this lodge, but more for a couple or small / young family.

Thank you for the review, Jennifer and whilst we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, we note your comments about the size of lodge. High View is a cute two bedroom holiday lodge with lake views, a fantastic hot tub and spacious terrace. Our website page for High View does advise guests that it has a small second bedroom and is really only suitable for young children or a single adult. As you rightly say, ideally it is for a small family or a couple. We are delighted to note you were here when we had fantastic weather and made the most of being outdoors - and enjoyed the beautiful lake views from the lodge. Thank you for recommending to others and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

We had a lovely time at White Cross Bay and the lovely weather really helped. The location of our lodge gave us a good view of the lake and was adjacent to one where my daughter and her family were staying. The lodge itself was rather smaller than the impression given by the on-line pictures. Also the TV in the bedroom didn’t work and one of the settees was rather rickety. The main issue was with locking the doors as it was very difficult to lock them and we had to get our son-in-law to do it for us. I would definitely stay at White Cross Bay again as it is u a magnificent location but not in this lodge.

Thank you for your review Rodney. We were sorry to hear there were a few things not quite as expected and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We do find that when it is sunny the doors tend to expand and therefore makes it a little harder to open and close. Had you called us we would have gladly come to check and sometimes we can fiddle with the doors to ease them. That said we shall check the doors along with the sofa and tv. Thank you for letting us know and we are pleased that you enjoyed White Cross Bay.
